To be honest guys, I have no idea what I used here (except Urban Decay Peace), or why I did this. All I know is I watched Avatar and 45 minutes later I had this on my face.

Also, the lighting is weird, and I'm not sure what happened there.
I'm really love my Urban Decay Peace lately though. I bought this so long ago and never used it until recently. Blue eyeshadow has never been my thing. (Possibly because of my mother drilling into my brain how tacky it is.....?)
Anyway, I like this look.
I'd really like it a lot more if my whole body was painted blue and I could run around in Avatar land :)

My week in pictures

WELL, this week has been pretty eventful.
My internet stopped working on Monday, so it's been difficult. I'm currently sitting at Starbucks, next to a crazy guy, talking to himself :)
On Saturday, Jeff took me to a Giants game (my first, and hopefully not last!)

The Giants won, of course :)

After the game we walked to Paragon Restaurant. I've never been, but let me just say, it was AMAZING.
The decor inside is so cozy and the food was delicious. The prices weren't bad either.
Jeff got to pepper-crusted skirt steak and I got the pan-seared salmon.
To drink, Jeff got the Goose Island Matilda (because the name is fun to say) and I got the Anchor Porter (because the description included coffee flavor).

On our way back from San Fran we decided to go see the new Pirates movie.
I liked it, it was fun to watch, but I'm a little disappointed in a few things they didn't develop. I've heard a lot of people say they didn't like the first movies because there were so many things going on at once, but I liked that! I'm still just so curious about a few things...
Also, they really played up the zombies in the trailers, and there was a surprising lack of them in the movie. I'm a little let down about that.

My week in pictures

This week has been SO insane! Mostly a good kind of insane though.
Mother's Day was big of course, then the work week was really busy, and on top of that I went to the Zac Brown Band concert at Raley Field and a company picnic on Saturday.

Cheesin it up for the camera
Mother's Day was pretty relaxing. My sister had to work all day so my mom and I went to downtown Placerville to wlk through the art galleries and have lunch.

Chicken panini with mango chutney and salad. mmmmm

I dont remember what she got...but it looks good.
Delicious food provided by one of the best places in Placerville: Heyday Cafe.
Yum.

Seeing Zac Brown Band was amazing! They played so well and Zac Brown's voice is just instant contentment for me (I think it would have been a great night if we had even just gone for people watching though).

Yesterday after the Kniesel's picnic, Jeff took me to go see Bridesmaids.
This movie...words cannot describe how hilarious this movie is.
Kristen Wiig reminds me of my mom, which made the whole thing even better.
The women in that movie are all so great, I loved it.

All in all, a great week :)
I'm a happy girl, especially now that I've caught up on all my sleep!

  1. UDPP
  2. MAC Vellum Frost (base color)
  3. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple (outer corners)
  4. Urban Decay Freakshow (applied over NYX pencil, blended into crease and lower lashline)
  5. MAC Old Gold Pigment (applied with fluffy brush into crease)
  6. Smashbox Envy (outer corners)
  7. MAC Penultimate Eyeliner
  8. MAC Pro Lash

Bad bad hair day.

Lips are just EOS chapstick and MAC Love Nectar lipgloss.

I love the way purples look on my eyes. I think I own wayyyy too many purple shades. Every time I go searching for a different shade, I come home with a purple.

I thought this was pretty interesting!

"Why the ring around the iris is so attractive"

I think there will be a lot of strange staring/eye contact when I interact with people for a while.
"Sorry, I'm just gawking at your eyeball."
please excuse lack of makeup and unfolded laundry :(

Tried to curl my hair today. All I can say is NNNOPE.
It's still too short and way way too big, so I turned it into this:

Taking pictures of the back of your head is pretty hard and awkward.

I did this by:
  1. Parting off the top half of my hair and making a small bun.
  2. Part the hair down the middle in the back.
  3. Wrap and pin the left side of the parted hair around the opposite side of the bun (you can start wrapping it over or under, it doesn't matter. I wrapped it over the bun here)
  4. Wrap and pin the right side of the parted hair over the opposite side of the bun.
  5. Pin up any loose strands you don't want.
  6. Stick a flower in there for some added flair.
I made mine pretty high up, almost to the crown. So I needed the flower to keep my hair from making me look like a character from Little House on the Prairie.
I really really wish I could remember where I learned how to do this. I could have sworn it was a Michele Phan tutorial, but now I can't find it.
If I find the source I'll come back and edit this :)

This is my "I'm stuck at a red light" face. Not to be mistaken with my "smelling something bad" face.
Lip color: EOS chapstick and Ulta's Mixed Berry Sheer.

Face:
Benefit Porefessional
Covergirl concealer
Cargo Blu-Ray powder
Ulta Bronzer
Ulta Adore.

Eyes are just MAC pro-lash mascara.

I rarely like to photograph this eye. When I was 13 I was stung in the eye by a monster-bee, so I have a scar that makes my lid look different from the other one. There is a reason why my bangs part to that side of my face :)

Products used:
UD Primer Potion
NYX nude (base and inner corners)
Ulta Deep Sea (applied in crease and lower lash line)
MAC Brown and Blue pigment (applied in crease over Deep Sea)
MAC Pro Liner
Ulta Sapphire (applied over pro liner and lower lash line)
MAC Pro Lash mascara

I am in lurrrve with this color!
This shows the polish without a top coat. I painted my nails on my lunch break so I took a picture really quickly without thinking it through.
The only complaint I have is that I cant find way to make it stay on my nails for more than 2 days. This time it stayed for a couple hours and then started chipping off.
I like it for nights out though. The premature chipping makes it easier to take off the next day when the color doesn't match any of my normal clothes.

Let me explain the history of my hair to ya'll.
When I was in 8'th grade, my mom let me dye my hair black. it was black for a couple years before I started bleaching various strands and dyeing them other colors.

So after that phase was over it was sometime in 2008, my hair faded to brown, I grew it out, and bleached out some peek-a-boo highlights.

2009 came around. I dyed my hair brown.
Then one day, I decided I wanted to have platinum blonde hair.
It started out like this.....

Eventually it let to this...

(cell phone picture, please excuse)

I'm not really sure how to properly describe how ..... TERRIBLE ..... this idea was.
I didn't know it was possible for hair to feel like rubber when it got wet.
It's possible, and mine totally did.
I was scared to blow it dry and straighten it. The amount of hair that was burned off my head was scary. I'm glad I have thick hair.
So now let's get to the good part: The products that saved me!
I have 2 products that I use daily: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny and Paul Mitchell Thicken Up.
After the Blond Fiasco I nixed the thicken up and went straight for the super skinny.

If you've never tried Super Skinny, I highly recommend it. One bottle lasts me almost a year. One pump is really all you need for the ends of your hair. It cuts down blow drying time, its conditions and protects against heat! I also use it when I'm having issues with static electricity.

Then we got a new product line at work called It's a 10. It had just become available to us and after I tried it, there was no going back.
This stuff SAVED my hair.
My hair felt 80% better after the first try.
I also used the first shampoo and conditioner they put out, but I wasn't impressed so I couldn't tell you what they're called.
Anyway, this spray will do 10 things for you (get it...like their name...)

  1. Repairs dry, damaged hair. (true)
  2. Adds shine (mmm...a little true, Super Skinny adds more)
  3. Detangles (VERY true)
  4. Controls frizz (true)
  5. Seals and protects hair color (I haven't noticed much of this)
  6. Prevents split ends (true, a bit)
  7. Stops hair breakage (true)
  8. Creates siliness (SO true, ahhh)
  9. Enhances natural body (my hair is heavy and has no body unless I tease the crap out of it, but maybe this is true for other people)
  10. Flat iron spray & thermal protector (true)

This lovely bottle of happiness though, is WELL worth your $16.95.
I still use it now, even though my hair is pretty much back to normal, but usually only when I don't feel like conditioning it in the shower.
If I had a hundred thumbs, they would all be up right now.

This was the beginnings of an attempt at a peacocky look. I was going to go more dramatic and put more effect into it but I didn't have time, so this is what happened. I kind of like it actually. I started out not very excited about it, but the blue on top of the black liner made my eyes look Harry Potter Green! Aw yea.

Products Used:

  1. Urban Decay Eden Primer Potion
  2. Fyrinnae Jade Ghost (base)
  3. MAC Pigment in Old Gold (crease up towards brow bone, also under bottom lashes)
  4. MAC Swimming (crease)
  5. Urban Decay Peace (outer crease)
  6. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (inner corner)
  7. NYX shadow in Nude (inner corner, over Milk)
  8. MAC Pro Line
  9. Ulta Brand Shadow in Sapphire (applied over eyeliner with liner brush, also on bottom outer corner)
  10. MAC Pro Lash

Fyrinnae: Jade Ghost (inside)

Fyrinnae: Jade Ghost (in sunlight)

From left to right:

  1. By itself
  2. Applied with wet brush
  3. Applied over Urban Decay's Primer Potion
  4. Applied over NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
  5. Applied over NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean

Can I just say, that I am COMPLETELY in love with this? Originally I chose this because it looked more like a creamy white than a "jade". When I received it in the mail and saw the true green shimmer I was a little hesitant to use it.  I've used it a few times now and it's fast becoming a favorite. It's beautiful.
Again, my camera didn't capture the green, but it's there, I swear. You can see it a little more when it's just by itself on my arm.

Fyrinnae's Arcane Magic: Conjurer (Inside)

"Fyrinnae's Arcane Magic Eyeshadows are specialized colours with a highlight that changes hue depending on how the light hits it (closer to or further from a light). Different light sources may show different shades, too. All have a semi-opaque base to show off the colours better, some deeper than others."
(Full description can be found on the website: here

From left to right:

  1. Alone
  2. Applied with wet brush
  3. Over Urban Decay's Primer Potion
  4. Over NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
  5. Over NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean
I love this shadow! My review on this may not be fair though, because I've never met a purple eyeshadow I didn't like.
My camera didn't properly capture them, but Arcane Magic: Conjurer has gorgeous little flecks of green/blue that really shine in the sunligh. So you've got the purple shadow with the green/blue shimmer, and it really gives this shadow a lot of depth without being too overpowering.

MAC, Ulta and Target!
Yesterday was so much fun. After I was off work I met up with Kate (who ALSO had a gift card for Nordstroms) and we went straight for the MAC counter. We meant business.
We got really lucky with the girl who helped us out. She was the friendliest one there (I'll definitely be keeping her card). She talked to us for a good 15-20 minutes just about pigments. Then she played around with Kate's makeup. It was so fun.
Afterwrds we went to Target, where I got the Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion from No7. I've heard good things about it.
Then, Kate and I parted ways, I met up with my mom and sister for dinner, and we went to Ulta!
I got the little .34 oz sample of Benefit's Laugh With Me Lee Lee. It smells so good, but I want to try it out first. I never like buying full sized scents unless I know I really love them.
I also got a box from Ulta. So many colors! I can't wait to try them all!
The box will be used to hold small makeup jars or jewelry when it's finished. It's way too cute to through away :)

Just a simple look for work. I'm getting tired of boring neutral looks so I added some color underneath for funsies.

-Urban Decay Primer Potion
-MAC Retro-Speck (base & brow bone)
-MAC Honey Lust (crease)
-MAC Mulch Velvet (outer-ish crease)
-Urban Decay Freakshow (underneath)
-Maybelline Line Stiletto
MAC Pro-Lash

I'm not really a huge fan of most of Ulta's nail polishes, but they do have some great colors! This is my new favorite for the week :)
